Friday Update: Smuggler Character Progression Vide...
This week’s Star Wars: The Old Republic Friday Update is finally worthy of the label “Friday Update”.  First we have a progression video for the Smuggler, showing off a variety of skills and outfits for both the Scoundrel and Gunslinger Advanced Classes.  Then there is a developer blog from on The Old Republic’s expanded universe told in the pages of several books and comics. Lastly, a PAX highlights video is available with fan commentary and footage from the booth.
The new Developer Blog by Senior Writer Alexander Freed focuses on the expanded universe of Star Wars: The Old Republic. Freed has some key insights on what goes into developing these expanded stories from his first-hand experience of writing two tie-in comics (Blood of the Empire and The Lost Suns). He also shares what fans can expect from future adventures set in this era.

This week’s Star Wars: The Old Republic Friday Update is a developer blog from Principal Lead Systems Designer Damion Schubert on the Codex System. Damion Schubert gives an in-depth look how the Codex System in the developer blog for those looking to learn more about this intriguing lore based system. He explains how the Codex System evolved based on a combination of the codex seen in Dragon Age and Mass Effect, and talks about its use in targeting explorers based on Richard Bartle‘s categorization of players. Friday Update “BoreWare” Compilation
Since BioWare has released two weeks worth of useless Friday Updates, I have compiled them both into a single boring news update.  The New Years Eve update was a Developer Blog with Lead Cinematic Designer Paul Marino on the subject of Cinematic Design. In the Devloper Blog, Paul Marino explains how scenes are crafted in Star Wars: The Old Republic as well as gives insight on story aspects. There were a few new screenshots and videos to help the Developer Blog convey what Paul Marino is speaking on.
The latest Friday Update (1/7/11) was on a assortment of Biographies.  The Biographies include Supreme Chancellor Janarus, Darth Jadus, and Jewla Nightbringer. As always the Biographies include subtle hints of the story and possible game elements of SWTOR that should be interesting to fans looking to learn everything about the game.
Hopefully this upcoming Friday’s Update won’t be as lame considering a game that is due out for release in Spring 2011 (April – June).
